William Archibald Grier Jr.

William A. Grier, Jr. Charlotte- William A. Grier, Jr., 68, died peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House-Southminster surrounded by his family after a four year battle with brain cancer. He was born August 18, 1947 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, a son of the late William A. Grier, Sr. and Katherine Freeman Grier. Bill graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge from the Army, he then attended CPCC majoring in Computer Science. Mr. Grier began his career as a Software Developer for the City of Charlotte and then moved to Network Computing Corp. in Charlotte. Most recently, he was a Software Development Team Lead at Amdocs, Inc. also in Charlotte. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Marian Walden Grier; a son, Steven Patrick Grier, and a daughter, Erin Kathleen Grier, both of Charlotte; a brother, George Grier and wife, Linda, of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Ann Chambers and husband, Willie, of Indian Trail, NC, and brother, Bobby Grier, of Monroe, NC; brother in law, Bill Walden and wife, Sharon, of Blue Ridge, GA; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and cousins. A service in celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 16, 2016 in the Chapel of J.B. Tallent Funeral Service, 1937 Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte. The family will greet friends following the memorial service.
