Joseph Alves Jr.

November 5, 1929 — September 14, 2024

Joseph Alves Jr., a beloved farmer, businessman, and proud Army veteran, passed away peacefully in his home on September 14, 2024, at the age of 94. Surrounded by family and friends, Joe's final moments were filled with the love and community he built over a lifetime of dedication and service.

Born on November 5, 1929, in Marysville, CA, Joe proudly served his country as a paratrooper, with the 11th Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. His time in the service shaped his sense of duty, discipline, and courage, values that he carried into every facet of his life.

After his military service, Joe returned home and became a pillar of the farming community, establishing a successful dairy farm in 1956, and later expanding into rice farming. His hard work, passion, and devotion to the land made him a respected leader among his peers.

Joe was an active member of the Loyal Order of Moose, where he formed lasting friendships and loved dancing when there was a band playing. He was also a proud member of the Rusty Zipper Club at the local donut shop, and a longtime member of Franklin Dance Club.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenda Alves; his sons, Joseph Alves III and Michael Alves; his parents, Joseph and Mary Alves; and his brother, Richard Alves.

Joe is survived by his loving family; his daughter Sharon Alves Dake; his son, Tony Alves; his daughter, Kari Alves Stewart; and daughter in law, Julie Alves. He is also survived by nine cherished grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy of love, strength, and hard work.

A rosary service will be held at St. Isidore Church on October 1, 2024, at 10 AM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Joe's extraordinary life and honor his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Joseph's name to a charity of your choice.
