Phyllis Colleen (Wilkerson) Perkins, born September 8, 1929, in Yuba City, CA, the eldest of 6 girls to William Glenn Wilkerson and Lillian Ilene Lathrop-Wilkerson, passed away March 6, 2023, in Yuba City, CA, at the age of 93. Phyllis attended Tierra Buena School, Yuba City High School and received her GED from Yuba College. Phyllis married Stanley Perkins a returning WWII Veteran on June 19, 1946. They were married 43 years until Stanley's passing in 1989. Together they raised 3 children in their home in Tierra Buena. Phyllis worked at Harter Cannery over 20 years as a laboratory technician. She was also active in her children's activities volunteering as a Blue Bird Leader, a Cub Scout parent and in other activities as needed. Phyllis enjoyed many hobbies including: sewing clothes for her children, quilting, fishing, camping, gardening, crossword puzzles and reading. Phyllis was a valued wife, mother and grandmother in her family. Phyllis was predeceased by her 5 sisters: Glenna Joanne, Janice Lee, Rose Marie, Audrey Dean and Gertrude Mae; and her parents, Glenn and Lillian; and husband, Stanley. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Karen Tift (Bob); son, Phillip Perkins (Linda); and daughter, Sherry Hirai. Phyllis is the proud grandmother to Robin Tift Peterson, David Tift, Wade Hirai, Charles Perkins and Patricia Perkins-Garro. Phyllis also has one great-grandson; and 2 great-great-grandsons; as well as nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank the staff at The Gardens for their loving care of Phyllis. The family asks that any remembrances be to the charity of the giver's choice. A graveside service will be held at Sutter Cemetery in Sutter, Friday, March 17, 2023, at 11 am with Pastor Jim Anderson presiding, followed by lunch at Cornerstone Church, 700 Washington Avenue, Yuba City.
