Janet Marta (Iverson) Smith

Janet Marta (Iverson) Smith , age 75, of Fort Collins, passed away at her home on April 9, 2026.

Janet was born on February 19, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, to Thomas and Elizabeth Iverson. She was the youngest of five children and grew up in Chicago, where she attended local schools and graduated from Von Steuben High School in 1969.

In 1972, Janet married Mike Keller, and together they had three sons: Garry, Cody, and Kyle. In 1981, the family relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado. Janet and Mike later divorced.

Janet met Ralph Smith while attending a self-help class for widowed, divorced, and separated individuals. They married in 1988, and through this union, Janet gained a daughter, Andrea.

Janet pursued her passion for helping others by earning a degree in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University in 1993. She went on to serve in several healthcare facilities across Northern Colorado and Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 2010, she furthered her expertise by obtaining a graduate certificate in low vision from the University of Alabama. Janet retired in 2013 after a dedicated and compassionate career.

Janet is survived by her loving husband, Ralph Smith; her stepdaughter, Andrea Lala (David); her sons, Garry (Rebecca), Cody (Jenell), and Kyle (Alice); ten grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her brothers, Randall Iverson (June) and Russell Iverson (Nancy), and her sister, Marjie Frischmann.
