Marian Jane Edwards

May 9, 1930 — June 1, 2026

Marian Edwards passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 1, 2026, at the age of 96.

Marian was born on May 9, 1930, in Highland Park, Illinois. Following her parents' divorce when she was about eight years old, she spent much of her childhood living with her father, brother, and beloved grandparents, Robert and Jane Dixon. Her grandparents were Irish immigrants and were a profound influence throughout her life.

Her father, William John Thomas Dixon, was of Irish descent, and her mother, Phyllis Elizabeth Ronzani, was of Italian descent. Marian grew up surrounded by a large extended family as her maternal grandparents raised 21 children, providing an abundance of aunts, uncles, and cousins. She remained exceptionally close to her brother, Bill, and treasured the strong bonds she shared with her family throughout her life.

At age 12, Marian moved to Dearborn, Michigan, where she lived with her mother, brother, and relatives through her high school years. She graduated from Fordson High School in 1948 and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. Her high school reunions were among her favorite memories, and she often recalled those years with remarkable detail and affection.

In October 1949, Marian married James A. Edwards in Detroit, Michigan. The couple began their married life in Detroit before relocating to Wilmington, North Carolina, and later settling in Northbrook, Illinois, where Marian would live for more than 60 years. She dedicated 26 years of service to the Village of Glencoe, working in a variety of roles before retiring in 1990.

Following retirement, Marian and Jim embraced life as snowbirds, dividing their time between Northbrook, Illinois and Sun City, Arizona. After Jim's passing in 2008, just shy of their 60th wedding anniversary, Marian continued traveling between Illinois and Arizona for another 15 years. In 2015, she moved to Windsor, Colorado, to be closer to her family—a decision that brought her immense joy. She especially loved watching her great-grandchildren grow and treasured the time spent with them. Wherever she lived, Marian formed lasting friendships and created cherished memories.

Marian is survived by her son, Jay Edwards (Amy); her grandchildren, Christopher LeCoq, Lindsay Kramer (Jeff), Brian Edwards (Kari), and Lauren LeCoq; and her six great-grandchildren, Jack, Tyler, and Brayden Kramer, and Rhett, Marlo, and Hart Edwards.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edwards (2008); her son, Robert Edwards (2007); her daughter, Susan Edwards (2012); and her great-granddaughter, Abba Edwards (2019).

Marian will be remembered for her devotion to family, her lifelong friendships, her resilience, and her warm, caring spirit. Those who knew her will remember her with great affection and gratitude.

The family extends its sincere thanks to Canyon Hospice for its compassionate care and to Stoneridge Memory Care in Loveland for the exceptional kindness and support provided to Marian.

A graveside service will be held at Grandview Cemetery on August 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
