Floyd Starkjohann passed away and was reunited with his wife in heaven on March 28, 2020, at the age of 90. He was born on June 18, 1929, to John and Florence (Patnoe) Starkjohann in White River, South Dakota. He lived at Cedar Butte, South Dakota, before moving to Norris, South Dakota. He attended grade school in Norris and graduated from high school in Kadoka, South Dakota, in 1948. After graduation, he went to work for the South Dakota Department of Transportation and worked there for 5 years. He married June Parkinson on September 18, 1949, in Kadoka, South Dakota. During the Korean War he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He reported to Parks Air Force Base in California for basic training and attended schooling at Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In June, 1953, he was assigned to Carswell Air Force Base in Ft. Worth, Texas. There he worked in the supply unit until being honorably discharged in 1956. The same day, he and his family moved to Loveland, Colorado, and Floyd started working for the Colorado Department of Transportation in 1957 as an engineer, and remained in that position for the next 30 years when he retired in 1987. They continued living in Loveland until 2011 when they moved to Windsor, Colorado, to a senior living community to be near family. He and his wife enjoyed spending the winter months in Mesa, Arizona, for 26 years. His hobbies were golf, pinochle, and exercising at the Chilson Center in Loveland. He is survived by his daughter, Ronda (Dennis) Bruns, Windsor, Colorado; son, Scott Starkjohann (Marty), Austin, Texas; son, Chris (Tracy) Starkjohann, Oceanside, California; sister, Joyce Starkjohann, Pekin, Illinois; sister, June (Charles) Berndt, Pekin, Illinois. He also has five grandchildren: Derek (Jamie) Bruns, Krista (Doug) Beeman, Brandon Starkjohann, Lindsay (Travis) Dittmar, and Alissa Starkjohann. Other survivors include 3 great granddaughters; Hannah Bruns, Karis Beeman, and Danae Beeman. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, June; infant son, Steven; his parents; brother, Clifford Starkjohann; sister-in-law Dolores Starkjohann Smith; brother, Robert Starkjohann; sister-in-law, Aida Starkjohann; and sister, Betty Starkjohann. No memorial service will be held. A private family inurnment will take place at Loveland Burial Park. Anyone wishing to make a donation in his memory may do so with a contribution to a charity of your choice.
