James Lee Jansma
October 31, 1943 — November 6, 2022
James "Butch" Jansma, 79, of Pierce, Colorado united with his Lord and loving wife on November 6th after battling cancer with his family by his side. He was born October 31st, 1943 in Hammond Indiana
to Elliot Jansma and Clara Peters as the youngest of 14 siblings. On August 29th, 1963 he married Gloria Ruiter in Lansing Illinois and they moved to Lynwood Illinois where they had 4 children and then to Loveland Colorado where they completed their family with their last son. Once in Loveland he started Jansma Excavating and later focused on construction and concrete including building many of his homes.
Butch was a lifelong lover of travel whether by motorhome or his Harley. He was a man of many talents including restoring classic cars and trucks and impeccable woodworking. He enjoyed the outdoors, a good laugh and being with his family and his many friends.
He is survived by sons James 'Butch' Jr and Ben Jansma (Melissa), his daughters Kimberly Luther (Bryan), Dawn McDougall (Kevin), Jennifer Souders and his 8 grand children Yanye and Meili Luther, Maggie Jansma, Riley Crescibene, Collin and Breana Souders, Baron Jansma and 1 great grandchild Praysen Brownell. Brothers Carl and Tub and sister Ruth Van Kley. He is preceded in death by his wife Gloria Jansma, beloved granddaughter Megan Jansma and his many siblings.
Funeral services will be held November 12th at 10am at Foundations church in Loveland. Reception to follow at Kevin and Dawn McDougall's residence.
