Peggy Ferne Stark
July 11, 1949 — May 30, 2026
Peggy Ferne Stark, age 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her husband and children on May 30, 2026. She was born on July 11, 1949, to Ealy and Mary Lee and was the middle child of five girls.
Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life centered around caring for others. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Bruce; her children, Kristi (Gary), Heather (Kevin), and Nick (Lyndsay); and her cherished grandchildren, Kody, Kale, Kami, Matti, Henry, Halyn, and McKinley. She is also survived by her four sisters, Sherry McBride, Carol Weber, Linda Marriner and Sandy Lasson and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Peggy had a lifelong love for children and dedicated much of her career to nurturing and teaching them. She worked for many years as an in-home childcare provider before becoming a teacher at Children’s World and eventually serving as the center director. She had a special gift for connecting with children and seemed to know every nursery rhyme ever written. Peggy could and would break into a children’s song at any moment.
In her free time, Peggy loved reading and probably read at least a book a week for most of her life. She was also crafty. All of her grandchildren have blankets made by “Mimmy.” She crocheted beautiful scarves, too, and was known to take the scarf off her neck to give to a stranger who admired it. She loved the mountains and the ocean and was especially fond of collecting rocks and seashells – with the idea of turning them into something wonderful, like a necklace or bracelet. She loved to shop and cook, too!
She will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, kindness, and the love she shared so freely with family, friends, and the many children whose lives she touched. Peggy’s love and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
