A Life Well Lived

The Pearly Gates of Heaven opened wide on June 12, 2026, to welcome our beautiful, precious Mother, Wife, Sister, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, Pearl E. Reichert home. Like a precious gem, our Mother Pearl was the pearl of great value and priceless to her family and friends.

Pearl was born October 28, 1926, the third of seven children to Henry and Katherine (Katie) Shaffer, who immigrated from Russia aboard the F. Missler Bremen, eventually settling on a farm in Loveland, Colorado.

She spent her younger days during the Great Depression working hard alongside her siblings in the sugar beet fields, as well as picking cherries in Loveland’s cherry orchards. She also worked at the Great Western Sugar Factory. In her late teens, she rode the bus to Denver, working at an old-fashioned drugstore near the state capital.

On February 10, 1946, Pearl married her sweetheart, Raymond Rex Reichert, at the First Congregational Church in Loveland after he had returned home from WWII, where he served as a Navy gunner on the USS Twining.

Rex and Pearl were married 51 years before his passing. They were blessed with three children: Ronnie, Sandra, and Arlla.

As a member of the Colorado Women’s Bowling Association, Pearl, her sisters and friends bowled on teams sponsored by Rex and Sigman Meats. They bowled in numerous city and state tournaments—including Greeley, Denver, Pueblo, and Colorado Springs—and often came home with trophies and prize money.

She was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, Denver Nuggets, and Track & Field. On occasion, a trip to Reno, Mesquite, or Blackhawk was a welcome getaway. Both Rex and Pearl were members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and often participated in their activities. Celebrating and hosting family get-togethers, birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, as well as baby showers and wedding showers were among her favorite things to do—and she was good at it. She often made the favors herself by hand and, of course, the food. Pearl was a tremendous cook. Her recipes were mostly by memory and hardly ever written down. She made sure her family and friends were blessed to feast on the German foods she loved to make, including sauerkraut and bread dumplings, blinas, Maultaschen, grebbles, cinnamon rolls, cherry kuchen, and krautburgers. Yum!

Her favorite collectibles were doves, angels, bells and porcelain dolls. If she had a sandwich, there had to be potato chips too. She loved fruitcake, but then who doesn’t? Sitting in the swing with Rex on the patio, and spending time with family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Pearl lived a life marked by faith, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the memories she provided, and the numerous lives she touched through her kind and generous heart.

Her family rests in the peace of knowing she is now home with the Lord.

Above all, Pearl’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by Son Ron Reichert of Loveland Daughters Sandra Reichert of Loveland and Arlla (Todd) Schildmeier of Cheyenne, WY.

5 Grandchildren: Jodi (Larry) Moulton, Shanna Reichert, Carri (Tony) Reichert-Galiano, Destry (Sarah) Schildmeier and Brynn Schildmeier, 8 Great-Grandchildren and 6 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Sisters: Nadine Antonio of Highlands Ranch, CO Sister-in-law: Helen Reichert of LaCrescenta, CA and a few nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Rex Reichert, parents Henry and Katie Shaffer, brother Kenneth Shaffer, sisters Francis Dumler, Lillian Pakuer, Genny McCartney, Elvera Kasten, and numerous nieces and nephews.
