Stephen Carl Knudson, 66, of Fort Collins, CO passed away at home with family by his side on March 8, 2019 after a long and courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Steve was born in Denver, CO on Thursday, December 18, 1952 to George and Inez Knudson. He graduated from Loveland High School in 1971. The army called him to duty in 1973 and attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He served with the 3D Armored Division in Europe. Steve was honorably discharged in September of 1978. In 1982 he married Wendy McCarthy of Loveland. They had three children Ryan, Anna, and Matt. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for most of his working career. Employers included Ridge Crane and Rigging and Sterling Crane Service. Steve retired in 2015. Steve enjoyed time outdoors, spending time with family and tending to his garden. He loved to cook and was always planning the next backyard BBQ. He loved hunting and fishing in the Colorado Mountains and always looked forward to summer camping trips. Steve is survived by his loving wife Wendy; children Matt (Jessica), Anna (Art) and Ryan; grandchildren Austin, Ashlyn, Ava, Cameron, Jayden and Carl; his mother Inez; and brothers Allen and Gary. Steve is preceded in death by his father George and brother Roger. Funeral Services will be held at First Christian Church, 2000 N. Lincoln Ave, Loveland, CO 80538 on March 15, 2019 at 11:00am with viewing 1 hour prior. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Loveland Burial Park following services and a reception at First Christian Church following the interment. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. https://www.npcf.us
