Carol Ann Smith

Carol Ann Smith, age 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 4, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with dementia. She was born on October 22, 1948, to the late John Sr. and Margaret Burns.

Carol is survived by her husband of 54 years, Alan Smith; her son Christopher Smith and his wife, Michelle, and their children, Jake (23) and Ella (20); her grandsons Mason (13) and Elliot (10), and their mother, Nicole Smith. She is also survived by her brother, John Burns Jr., and his wife, Susan Entz. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Smith; her sister, M. Susan Burns; and her parents.

Carol worked at 3M for over 35 years, a career in which she took great pride. She was happiest when spending time with her family and her beloved puppies, whose presence brought her endless joy. Whether gathered at the cabin, spending time on their boat on the river, or sitting on the beaches of Florida with her husband, she cherished these moments most. She also had a well-known sweet tooth and never passed up the chance to enjoy a good dessert - always her favorite part of any meal.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at The Waters Memory Care Unit and United Hospital, both in St. Paul, MN, for their compassionate care.A private memorial service will be held with immediate family.

Carol's warmth, strength, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
