The late Henry Atta Panin Asante was born on Tuesday, 19th March 1963, at Adabraka in Accra, Ghana. He was the first of a set of twins, with his twin brother being Harry Atta Kakra Asante.

He was the beloved son of Opanin Fred Kwasi Asante-Tawiah and Obaapanin Dorothy Abena Dedaa, affectionately known as Auntie Dede (of blessed memory), who’s passing the family is also currently mourning. Both parents hail from Aduamoa Kwahu, in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Henry began his early education alongside his twin brother at Liberty Avenue PrimarySchool in Accra, attending from 1969 to 1975. He then continued at Akropong PresbyterianPrimary School in Akropong-Akwapim from 1975 to 1976. After successfully passing the Common Entrance Examination, he was admitted to the prestigious St. Peter’s Secondary School at Nkwatia-Kwahu, where he studied from 1976 to 1981 and earned his G.C.E. O’Levelcertificate.

He then proceeded to New Juabeng Secondary School in Koforidua, where he studied Accountancy and Business-related subjects from 1982 to 1984.Due to the temporary closure of universities in Ghana during that time, his father arranged for him to travel abroad. In 1986, Henry travelled to the United States, after a brief visit to the United Kingdom. While in the U.S., he recognized the vast opportunities within the healthcare sector and made the decision to transition from accountancy to nursing. With determination and perseverance, he pursued a career in nursing, progressing through various levels of training and ultimately qualifying as a Ward Master.

Henry married Elfrida Abigail Nana Ama Laryea, now Mrs. Elfrida Asante, in Accra. He later arranged for his wife to join him in the United States. Their union was blessed with three daughters: Brianna, Alexis, and Madison Asante.

After many years of dedicated service in the healthcare field, Henry had planned to take early retirement by the end of 2025 and return home to Ghana. Sadly, that plan was never realized. In November 2024, he fell seriously ill and endured a period of pain and suffering until his peaceful passing on 21st June 2025.

He is survived by his father, Opanin Fred Asante-Tawiah, his siblings: Frank McKiney Kwadwo Asante, Harry Kwabena Atta Kakra Asante, Dr. Mallet Kwaku Agyei-Tawiah, Jeffrey Nana Acheampong, and Mrs. Kess Asante Eshun. He also leaves behind his devoted wife, Mrs. Elfrida Asante, and their three beloved daughters: Brianna, Alexis, and Madison Asante.

Henry Kwabena Atta Panin Asante lived a quiet, cheerful, and compassionate life. He was a generous soul, always ready to offer help to anyone in need.

May you rest peacefully from the pain and labours of this world.
