Arlene Carpenter Combs

On Saturday, January 5, 2019, Arlene Carpenter Combs, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at her home in Irmo, SC at the age of 75. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.
Arlene was born on November 21, 1943 in Stephenson, WV to Wilburn Herman Carpenter and Una Bledsoe. On August 12, 1962, she married Reginald Ray Combs. They raised two children, Missy and Tracy, and one grandchild, Corey. She maintained a career in banking, and the South Carolina Housing Authority until retiring in 2007.
Arlene had a passion for cooking, and everyone that knew her was aware of this. Her cooking skills were no match for anyone. She also had a love for bird watching and nature, and adored her dog Jojo, who loved her so much in return. She was known for her sense of humor, quick wit and also for her compassionate and kind soul.
Arlene is survived by her husband Reggie, her son Tracy, her grandson Corey, her sister Laura Coleman in North Carolina and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
No services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to The American Cancer Society ( www.cancer.org ) and/or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital ( www.stjude.org ).
