OBITUARY – Robert Dale “Bob” Carswell – Services for SFC Robert Dale Carswell, US Army, (Ret.), 59, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 1, 2021 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29223. Pastor Mack Goodwin will officiate. The service will conclude with US Army funeral honors. Bob Carswell passed away February 21, 2021. Born in San Diego, CA, he was a son of Wilson Carswell and the late Martha Johnson. Bob served his country faithfully in the US Army, retiring after a career of more than 20 years. After retirement, he also was employed by the US Postal Service as a mail carrier. He enjoyed college football, riding motorcycles and coaching his sons’ athletic endeavors. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Rebekah M. Carswell; sons, Robert Dale Carswell, II (Fame) of Seattle, WA, Jonathan Carswell (Whitney) of West Columbia, step-son, Tanner Bomar of Lexington; grandchildren, Isabelle “Bella” Carswell, Savannah Widener, Liam Carswell, Tucker Carswell, Lincoln Carswell; his father, Wilson Carswell; daughter-in-law, Shannon Carswell; sister, Catherine Watson of Morganton, NC; brother, Sean Paul Carswell. In addition to his mother, Bob was predeceased by his son, Wilson Joshua Carswell.
