The brand traces its origins to 1977, when Larry, Debbie, Leonard, and Kathy Romero co-founded a family funeral business in Southern Colorado, initially operating through rural satellite storefronts in communities including Antonito, San Luis, and Monte Vista. The business expanded into Pueblo in 1994 and took the Romero Funeral Home name at that time. The family's first move north came in 2005 with the purchase of a funeral home in Denver, followed by additional Denver-area locations over the years that followed. The Denver-area locations were acquired by Foundation Partners Group in 2023; the original Southern Colorado funeral homes remain family-owned. Each Romero location serves families in its own community, and families arranging services work directly with the staff at the location they choose.
