Andrew Craig Tolan passed peacefully into eternity on February 3, 2020, while sleeping in his home at the Villas of Holly Brook in Bradenton, Florida. Andy, as he was known to his loved ones, was born October 16, 1962, in Bloomington, Indiana. He spent most of his childhood in Kokomo, Indiana, with his mother Margaret Petter Cardwell and brothers Bob Tolan Jr. and Pat Tolan. He spent some time during the summers with his father, Robert Warren Tolan Sr, stepmother, Stephanie, and his half brother, RJ. He graduated from Indiana University on December 31, 1985, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was very creative throughout his life enjoying pottery, metal working and making a wide variety of artistic creations. He was a successful manager in the restaurant industry having experience with many organizations over the years. He eventually came to Southwest Florida, with The Italian Oven to supervise the expansion of the chain to this area. Andy also went on to work for many resorts in event planning and catering. He developed many friendships in Bradenton where he has lived for the past twenty years. Andy was diagnosed with Pompe Disease in his late twenties and courageously fought to maintain his independence and to have a productive life in spite of the hardships it caused. Andy had an amazing resolve to welcome each day as a gift and to live with hope and determination. He was an inspiration to us all and a faithful friend and encourager to so many. The joy of the Lord was his strength in life and his position in heaven is secure in life after death because of his faith in Jesus Christ. Andy is survived by his son Zachary Tolan of Canonsburg, PA; his half brother RJ Tolan (Lisa) of Brooklyn, NY; his stepmother Stephanie Tolan of Rhinebeck, NY; his maternal aunt Virginia Petter Fleming, maternal cousins Lisa Fleming Turner of Fort Myers, FL, and David Fleming (Donna) of Chicago, IL; his paternal aunt Beverly Earle (Fritz) of Glade Valley, NC; and his paternal cousins Linda Cansler William (Chris). Andy was preceded in death by his wife Diane Tolan of Bradenton, FL; his father Robert Warren Tolan Sr. of Charlotte, NC; his mother Margaret Petter Cardwell (Lew) of Bradenton, FL; and his brothers Robert Warren Tolan Jr. (Judy) of Trenton, NJ and Patrick Allen Tolan (Adrienne) of Nashville IN. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday , February 29, 2020, at 1:00 PM at The Villas of Holly Brook, 3503 14th St. West, Bradenton, FL.
