"Holyoke, Barbara Strobel, 45, died at home with her family by her side after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Ware on September 5, 1967, she is the daughter of Rose Marie Mickey of Granby and Edward Shea of W. Springfield. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Jill Higgins and her husband John of Chicopee, step-children, Eric Shea and fiance Emily of Palmer, Christopher Strobel and wife Christina of NC and Jessica Strobel of Palmer along with six grandchildren and one on the way. Her sisters, Theresa Strobel and Deborah Staples-Canary and husband Robert, all of Palmer, and many nieces and nephews also survive her. She was recently predeceased by her husband Mark in August. A memorial service will be held at Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 10 at 6:30 p.m. Calling hours from 4 to 6:30 pm will precede the service. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society."
