Donald Christopher Hanover
June 29th, 1965 - May 6th, 2021
Holyoke- Donald Christopher Hanover, 55, passed away at home on May 6, 2021, with his loving wife by his side. He was born on June 29, 1965, in Manchester, CT to Lawrence and Joyce (Fortune) Hanover. He was raised in Colchester, CT, and received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University and his MA and Ph.D. in Philosophy from Binghamton University. In 1999, Donald relocated to South Hadley where he began his career at Holyoke Community College as a Professor of Philosophy; a job about which he was very passionate and held for the past 22 years. He loved basketball and was a lifelong Knicks fan. Donald and his wife, Erica, shared a love for traveling and spending time by the ocean, including many summers in North Truro, Cape Cod. Donald was a deep and careful thinker and an exceptionally kind and generous man. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 16 years, Erica Eynouf of Holyoke, and his siblings, Theresa Hanover of Portland, OR, Lawrence Hanover of Brownington Village, VT, Keith Hanover of Sonoma, CA, Kevin Hanover of Melrose, MA and Dennis Hanover of Colorado Springs, CO. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his eldest brother, Robert Hanover. All services are private, and burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Donald Hanover Revolutionary Award at Holyoke Community College - https://www.hcc.edu/alumni-and-friends/make-a-gift?fbclid=IwAR3F50HYsfTKloSmCoD8pvtUab7g5qE7xU2pVctd75teg_BGXJMnOPHofg0
