Doris Louise Slaughter
March 7th, 1920 - October 16th, 2010
Doris Louise Slaughter Doris was born March 7, 1920 to Moody Mae and Edna Pete in Port Arthur, TX where she graduated from Lincoln High School. While in Port Arthur, she met jazz musician Clement Tervalon and from this union gave birth to her only son, Gerald Anthony Tervalon. She later met railroad porter John Kendrick and was a loving wife until he preceded her in death. She was blessed later in life to find a devoted husband in John Slaughter who also preceded her in death. Doris gave her life to Christ in her 20s and was passionate in her service to Him. In 1965, she was the first person to meet Pastor Violet Kiteley who was visiting from Canada. Doris went on to become one of the founding members of Shiloh Temple which is now known as Shiloh Church. Doris went to be with her Lord October 16, 2010. She leaves memories and love spanning five generations including: her son, Gerald Anthony Tervalon; daughter-in-love Leah Frances Greene; grandchildren Jan Rene, Doris Allen, Gerri Nicks and Clemaus Tervalon; great-grandchildren Jaime Turnbull Dreher, Aimee Smith, Leah-Joy Turnbull, Jeremiah Turnbull, Benjamin Davis, Jonathan Davis, Caleb Nicks, Collin Nicks; and great-great-grandchildren Brianna Turnbull, Lionell Smith, Jr, Jahli Smith, Sean Clark and Khairi Turnbull as well as a host of other family and loved ones. Viewing will be 10:00 am to 12:30 pm Friday, October 22, 2010 with quiet hour at 11:00 am at Oak Park Hills Chapel, Walnut Creek. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Concord. Visitation Friday, October 22, 2010 10:00 am-12:30 pm
