Faustina Victoria Ortiz, “Tina”, age 83 of New Castle, CO, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Tina was born October 27, 1939 in Rifle, Colorado, the daughter of Nicksolasa (Baca) and Plino Gomez. Tina was raised in Rifle, Colorado, where she attended Rifle High School graduating in 1957. She also met her husband, Fidel F. Ortiz, in Rifle and were married December 19, 1959. After living in Minturn, Leadville, Vail and Glenwood Springs, they made New Castle, Colorado their permanent home where they raised their three children. Tina devoted her life to her family being an amazing mother, “Nana” and sister as well as a surrogate mother to all of the neighborhood children. Her door was always open and friends and family always enjoyed gathering at her home for the delicious cooking and loving atmosphere. Survivors include her loving children, Kevin Ortiz (Linsey), Raymond Ortiz (Rosie), Selena Blom (Chris), her grandchildren, Kaylie Ortiz, Mitchell Ortiz, Kylie Hultman and Ethan Hultman, her brother, Orland Gomez, and sister, Carol Juarez, and many nieces and nephews. Tina was preceded in death by her husband, Fidel F. Ortiz, in 2001, her parents Nicksolasa and Plino Gomez, her siblings, Viola Gomez, Daniel Gomez, Francis Johnson, Louise Chavez, Clarence Gomez, and her two loyal companions, Diamante and Keisha. Tina touched the lives of many and shall be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. “Losing a mother is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know. But her goodness, her caring and her wisdom live on like a legacy of love that will always be with us.” No services will be held per Tina’s request. The family will be having a private service this summer. In lieu of flowers, friends and family wishing to honor her can make a charitable donation of their choice in her name
