Henry Jay “Jay” Salas, 56, of Greeley, CO passed away on October 1, 2024, at his home, after battling cancer. He was born in Uvalde, TX to Enrique “Henry” and Maria “Teresa” (Aguilera) Salas.
In 1970, the family moved from Uvalde, TX to Fort Collins, CO where he was raised and graduated from Rocky Mountain High School in 1986. He then graduated from Denver ITT in 1988 and received an auto mechanics certificate from AIMS Community College.
Jay owned Jay’s Auto Welding Shop. He was an avid car enthusiast. He sold and repaired many vehicles and often provided his work at a low or nothing cost. His fishing poles were a standard tool in his truck as he loved to go fishing. He enjoyed playing pool, especially with his son, Jorion. Dancing was his thing, from R & B Old School to Tejano dancing, Music was always a part of his life, and the luck he had while gambling was unbelievable. Jay was very artistic and more than anything he was a very positive and inspirational person to all those he knew. Spending time with family was very important to Jay, as family meant everything to him. Jay was a member of Timberline Church in Fort Collins and VNEA Billiards.
He is survived by his son, Jorion Salas, his mother, Teresa Salas, his three sisters, Sonia, Sofia and Soraya Salas, two nieces and eight nephews and their families as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry, his daughter, Kianna Salas and many aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 11 at Adamson with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Jay’s Life Celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12 at Timberline Church, Fort Collins. Cremation will follow.
Memorial gifts may be made to “Children’s Hospital” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Condolences may be shared at AdamsonCares.com.
