Memorial

Kenneth R. Pennington passed away on Saturday January 30, 2021, due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. He was 68 years old. Ken was born June 14, 1952 to Robert and Betty Pennington in Denver, CO. After his parents divorced, his mother and younger brother, Dave, moved to Ft. Collins, CO. Ken played the trumpet in the marching band and ran the mile race on the track team while attending FCHS. He graduated from Fort Collins High in 1970. In 1971, he joined the U. S. Navy. He served in the Pacific Fleet at the time of the Vietnam War. He rose to be a Quartermaster QM3. After his discharge from the Navy, in 1973, Ken attended the University of Northern Colorado for several of years. Ken did not find formal education to his liking, moving into many years of carpentry work including mobile home building and window frames. His last 15 years he worked for Alpine Cabinet Co. in Timnath, CO. Ken’s primary love was the outdoors. He was happiest fly-fishing and pheasant hunting with his hunting buddy, Mark Keil, in Holy Oak. Before Parkinson’s he enjoyed long hikes and backpacking. His nephews, Zachary, Brian and Tyler Pennington have many fond memories of camping with Ken. Family and friends will miss Ken. No services are planned. His ashes will be scattered to the winds in the summer. "Come to the wood, for here is rest. There is no repose like that of the deep green woods. Sleep in the forgetfulness of all ill” John Muir
