Kenneth Zanders
July 16th, 1943 - August 25th, 2014
My Life Story Kenneth William Zanders, 71, passed away at home Monday, August 25, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Caldwell, Idaho on July 16, 1943 to Gayle and Mildred Zanders, he was the third of nine children. He grew up working along-side his brothers, and friends to fix, wreck and re-fix cars. As an adult he took to the family craft of house painting and later owned and operated Eagle Paint & Glass in Eagle, Idaho for 27 years. As a young man he briefly lived in Pennsylvania, working in dog kennels. That experience grew his love for Airedales and he owned many in his lifetime. Upon his return to Idaho, he married Glenda June Campbell. They wed in December 1966, and were married for nearly 33 years until her death in November 1999. Together they raised three children, Reacheal, Carrie and Rick. In June 2001, he married Shari Swall. Ken and Shari moved to McCall, Idaho in 2001 where Ken made a living as the paper carrier, delivering the newspaper while keeping a keen eye out for animals in the dead of morning in the mountains through all seasons. In McCall they joined the High Country Cruisers Car Club where Ken enjoyed showing off his 1958 Pontiac. Ken and Shari moved back to Boise after his medical needs necessitated being close to the health care he required to battle the cancer. Ken enjoyed hunting with his brothers, fishing on the Snake River, playing poker with his grandsons, building salvaged window frames into mirrors, and was a hardcore Sudoku fanatic. He was always willing to help or offer his opinion, whether asked for or not. He was an intelligent and caring father, husband, brother, grandpa, friend and man, and will be missed. He leaves behind his wife Shari Zanders; children Reacheal & Shane O’Harra, Carrie Zanders, and Rick Zanders; step-children Leslie & Cliff Anderson, Laurie & Matt Christian, and Darin & Lea Swall; his grandchildren Ben O’Harra, Aaron O’Harra, Spencer O’Harra, Joseph Foss, Haily Foss, Cora Zanders, Jonathan Zanders, Charlie Anderson, and Will Anderson, as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, great friends and last, but not least, his Airedale Lizzie. A private family burial will take place at Dry Creek Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 12 at 4:00 pm at the home of his sister, Wylene (Barry) Pharoah at 622 Hialeah Drive, Eagle, Idaho. Everyone is welcome to come share and celebrate Ken’s life. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Mountain States Tumor Institute, as well as St. Luke’s Hospice for the excellent care they provided in the final days of Ken’s life. Remembrances may be left for the family online at www.AccentFuneral.com. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.

We Entrusted Kenneth Zanders's Care To
Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
