Larry Wayne Hiatt, 71, of Kernersville passed away on February 23, 2023 at his residence. A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Lonnie and Kate (Cox) Hiatt and husband to Linda Mae Hiatt. Larry had the utmost trust, respect, love, and gratitude for veterans (and those currently serving in our military), law enforcement, firefighters, first responders, and all those who protect and serve our country. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his three step-children, James (Carrie), Stephanie (Rick), and David (Charlotte); his twelve grandchildren, Jimmy, John Derek, Kaley (Ryan), Kori (Alex), Joey, Amy, Drew, Kamryn, Leah (Brenton), Mason, Arabella; his nine great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Hayden, Cara, Sophia, Carter, Claire, Spencer, Jaxson, Ryan Claire; his brother, Tim (Wanda) Hiatt and niece Daphne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, James W. Henderson IV. The family will receive his friends at Freeman Street Baptist Church, 2311 Freeman Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127 on Monday, February 27, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will follow beginning at 1:00 pm at Freeman Street Baptist Church with Preacher Bob Whitaker and Pastor Brandon Harrison officiating. Following the service, interment will be at Gardens of Memory at 5676 Old Walkertown Road, Walkertown, NC 27051. In lieu of flowers, those who desire to make a memorial contribution can do so to the Piney Grove Fire and Rescue Department at 1109 Piney Grove Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284.
