Marie Smith Cain, 88, of Kingsport, went to rest on Wednesday night (May 14, 2014) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Marie was the eldest of seven siblings. She retired from Eastman Kodak with 43 years of service. Marie was a devoted Christian who was saved at the age of 15 at Whitesburg School and attended Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dolvin B. Cain; her parents, Sim and Sarah Margaret Smith; her sisters, Erma Ealey and Ruby Clark; brothers, Dewey Smith and Harold Smith; step-daughter, Mildred McCarten. Marie Cain is survived by her sister, Shirley Cox and husband, Bascom "Sonny"; a brother, Virgil Gene Smith; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Smith and Joyce Smith; step-children, Roy A. Cain and wife, Mattie, Rita Markland and husband, Butler; step-grandchildren, Robbie Cain and wife, Mary, Jessie Eremity and wife, Rene along with several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Sunday (May 18, 2014) at 3 PM at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Todd Jennings and Pastor Preston Patrick, officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport is serving the Cain family.
