Marjorie Jean Dillard April 28, 1922 �" November 1, 2008-11-02 Age: 86 Residence: Galeton, CO Tribute: Marjorie Jean Dillard was born on a farm near Galeton to George Harley and Dolly Elizabeth (Nix) Groves. She moved to a farm near Eton as a child and lived there until her marriage. She graduated in 1940 from Eaton High School. On August 13, 1941 she married Herschel Dillard in Cheyenne, WY. For over fifty years Jean worked beside her husband at their family owned grocery store, Dillards, in Galeton. Friends and family enjoyed a stop at the store for good service, good conversation and one of the best hamburgers around. Jean also served for many years as an assistant postmaster in Galeton. Jean’s most rewarding job was raising her eight children and taking care of her home. She was an excellent cook and loved to host dinners for both family and friends. Jean was a devout Christian who gave of her time and resources to serve others. She was always willing to help anyone in need. She was an active member of the Eaton First Baptist Church where she served on many committees and enjoyed singing in the choir. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mrs. Dillard died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. Survivors: husband, Herschel Dillard of Galeton; children, Marilyn Clausen and husband Dallas of Springfield, OR, Joyce Nix and husband Gerald of Jefferson, CO, Harley Dillard of Red Oak, IA, Elaine Dillard of Loveland, CO, Jim Dillard and wife DeAn of Galeton, Sherry Shay of Loveland, CO, Joanie Schulz and husband Paul of Ft. Collins, CO, Dolly O’Leary and husband Dan of Galeton; grandchildren, Hans, Eric and Jon Clausen, Jenny, Melissa, and Sarah Nix, Christy, Jeanie, Daniel, and Josh Dillard, Brad and Jaime Carter, Kirsten and Kyle Dillard, Patrick and Laura Shay, Joel Schulz, and Nick and Zach O’Leary; seven great grandchildren. Preceeded in death by: parents; grandson, John Mark Clausen; sister, Hazel, and brothers, Glenn and Jack Groves. Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday November 6, 2008 at Evangelical Free Church of Eaton. Visitation: 5:00 �" 8:00 p.m. Wednesday November 5, 2008 at Adamson Chapel. Interment: Eaton Cemetery Note: Memorial contributions may be made to the Jean Dillard Memorial Fund for local church missionary work c/o Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
