Marjorie M. Whittington
February 17th, 1928 - December 10th, 2019
Marjorie Whittington, 91, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2019 in Greeley. Marjorie was born in Greeley to Walter & Dorthea (Fisher) Midcap on February 17, 1928. Marjorie was the oldest of 5 children, and had a challenging life growing up on a farm. Marjorie attended Ione grade school, and graduated from Platteville High School in 1946. Marjorie was a member of the greatest generation, and had recalled being impacted at 13 years old, when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Growing up, Marjorie had a love for school, and enjoyed attending annual high school reunions. After graduation, Marjorie became a telephone operator for several years. In 1947, Marjorie was married, and started a family, having her three daughters, Claudia, Vicki, and Cheryl Olin. In 1961, Marjorie worked in Longmont at Cyclone Factory. She met the love of her life, Earl Whittington in 1962, and they were wed in 1964. Marjorie was a homemaker, and loved her family, and extended family. She was a Christian, and was baptized in the Baptist church. Her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving, and Christmas. During these holidays she loved to cook and bake. Marjorie was famous for her divinity candy, and pies. In 1978, Marjorie and Earl moved to Montana, and lived there for 25 years. In 2002, Marjorie returned home to Colorado, and lost her husband of 39 years. Marjorie loved painting, bowling, camping, fishing, playing cards, and her close friends. She had a great love for all animals, especially horses and dogs. Marjorie will be forever remembered by her daughters, Claudia (Ronald) Olson, and Cheryl (Ozzie) Summy; step-daughter, Judy (Dan) Squires; step-son Gene (Joan) Matassa; grandchildren, Eric (Rebecca) Sprague, Gretchen (Kyle) Reynolds, Sarah Renoad, Chad & Rachel Ketterling; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Emma Lou (Walt) Fisher, Helen (Doug) Corcilius, and Peggy (Ron) Williams; sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Robert) Midcap; and a large loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Whittington; daughter, Vicki (Joe) Lopez; brother, Robert Midcap, and step-son, Gary Whittington. A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Northern Colorado Crematory at 700 8th St, Greeley, CO 80631.
