Mary Cecila Bailey

Mary Cecila Bailey, 84, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away on August 31, 2024 in Greeley, Colorado. She was born to Felix and Alice (Malin) Thyfault on May 29, 1940 in Denver, Colorado. 

Mary grew up in Denver and attended West High School where she was very well liked.  She met and later married her husband David Bailey in December of 1959 in Denver, Colorado. Together they had one child, a son Troy.  The family spent their early time together in Northglenn, Colorado and then later moved to their rural property outside of Platteville, Colorado in 1974.

She worked many years caring for children in a home-based day care center and in later years Mary worked at Morning Fresh Farms which she retired from.

Mary was an avid runner would entry numerous organized events including the annual Bolder Boulder, Greeley Turkey Trot and other local 5k races.  Her biggest accomplishment was running the Rawhide Marathon and finishing the full race. She loved attending Work Out West in Greeley, where she was well known and very well-liked by the members and staff alike.

Mary enjoyed the outdoors, especially growing trees and gardening, including growing multitudes of prized tomatoes.  She also made many crocheted blankets for veterans and cancer patients.  Also, booties, hats and small blankets for new born babies in which she donated to charities. 

She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. 

She is survived by her son, Troy (Jill) Bailey; grandchildren, Ty Bailey and Devyn Bailey (Trey Weatherwax); great granddaughter, Beverly. Mary was preceded in death by her husband David, parents and brother, Albert Thyfault.
