Mary Jane De Jesus Santana Bobian
July 27th, 1927 - August 31st, 2023
Mary J. (Susie) Bobian passed away peacefully at home in Walsenburg on August 31, 2023, surrounded by family. Born Maria de Jesus Santana Pesina on July 27, 1927 in Pictou, Colorado, she is preceded in death by her husband of 76 years Silvano (Silver) Bobian, her parents Mariano Pesina and Elisa Perez, sisters Eufemia, Jenny and Virginia; brothers Santos Pedraza and Ben Pesina; grandson Rafael Bobian; great grandchildren Vincent Ray Bobian, Amanda Bobian and Michael Nino; son-in law Tony Sandoval; and nephews David Baca and Tony Hurtado. As the matriarch of the Bobian clan, she is survived by her children Art (Margaret) Bobian, Jennie (Joe) Velasquez, Daniel (Josslyn) Bobian, George (Elaine) Bobian, Catherine Bobian, Loretta Sandoval, Lorrena (Gilbert) Valdez, David (Kathy) Bobian, Ellen (Gary) Vigil, and Soledad Jones. Her amazing legacy also leaves behind 71 grandchildren, 173 great-grandchildren, and 90 great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nephews and nieces. Mary also wished to recognize the care she received from Hospice and Hospice representative, Hillary Andreatta. Known as a Prayer Warrior by all who knew her, she carried with her an abundance of faith, love, and spirituality. Her life was guided by unbounded faith and unconditional love and these two attributes defined her spirituality. There was never a problem or issue that could not be addressed and solved through prayer. Mary was a member of the Full Gospel Church of God in Christ Jesus in Walsenburg and was a member of the Board of Directors of Elim Full Gospel Fellowship. While spending most of her life in the Walsenburg area, she was employed as a billing specialist with the City and County of Denver Health Department until her retirement in 1988. Mary enjoyed reading her Bible and spending time with family, looking forward to visits from them almost on a daily basis. Her words of wisdom will be missed but forever remembered. Viewing is set for September 19, 2023 at Romero Funeral Home, 6 – 8 PM, 1805 S, Sheridan Blvd., in Lakewood; Funeral Service will begin at 9:30 AM at New Hope Ministries Church, 875 S. Sheridan Blvd., Lakewood, followed by interment at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, beside her husband, Silvano. The family will receive guests at a reception at Link Recreation Center, 1295 S. Reed in Lakewood. Please join us in celebrating the life of an amazing matriarch.
