Mary Jean McKenzie
April 27th, 1947 - June 19th, 2017
My Life Story Mary Jean Little McKenzie age 70, of Star, ID returned to her Heavenly Father and her beloved husband "Wendy" on June 19, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. Jean was born a twin on April 27, 1947 in Boise to Delbert and LaVern Little. As a child Jean loved spending time with her siblings playing rodeo with the pigs and calves, making mud pies with chicken eggs, playing cowboys and Indians, King of Bunker Hill, and riding bikes. When Jean was asked about her school days, she recalled being teased because she was taller than the boys. Her favorite subject was math. She was active in several sports growing up. Jean was an avid reader in her free time. Upon graduation, she married her soul mate, Wendell "Wendy" McKenzie on September 28, 1967 at St. Mary’s in Boise. Through this union they were blessed with six children. Jean was an active member of Holy Apostles Catholic Church, along with a homemaker, and most importantly a care taker for her late husband. She was a very private person, and would not let others take on her burdens. Jean mentioned several times how fortunate she and Wendy were to be able to have all of their children and grandchildren living so close. Jean was very family oriented, she always prepared large meals for the holidays, and loved spending time with the family playing games, and cheering at sporting events. Jean had the opportunity to not only visit Yellowstone with her son, Del and his family, but also received a Christmas gift from all her children for her and Wendy to go to Tucson, AZ to see his sister, prior to his passing. These are some memories that were fondly cherished by all. Jean is survived by four children: Mary (Dan) Bowles of Boise, Kenneth McKenzie of Star, Delbert (Zya) McKenzie of Star, and Robert (Jennifer) McKenzie of Boise. Eight grandchildren: Damien, Daniel, Kayla, and Andy Bowles, Bryndin McKenzie, Lexus, Sariya, and Katelin McKenzie; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings: Kent "Bub" Little, Deryl Little, Cheryl Waldschmidt, her best friend, and twin sister, "Jannie" George, and her baby brother, George. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell; her parents; two children, and one grandchild. A vigil will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 28th and Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 29th, both services will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Rd. in Meridian. A luncheon will follow at the church. Committal services will be held at Star Cemetery. Remembrances may be left for the family on Jean’s webpage at www.AccentFuneral.com. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian. Memorials may be made in Jean’s name to your favorite charity. The family would like to thank all of the extended family members that have came together to help lesson this burden. Some parting words that Jean hopes her family learns from her is to be kind to one another, and to learn from the examples she has taught.

Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
