Michael Arnard Kinney

Michael Arnard Kinney, age 81, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away on July 24, 2024. Born on November 6, 1942, in Tilton, New Hampshire, Michael was the son of Arnard and Anna Kinney.

Growing up, Michael was a paper delivery boy who saved up to buy a bike from the local dealer, paying for it weekly. His enthusiasm for learning and sports was evident from a young age; he excelled in math, gymnastics, baseball, track, and basketball. 

After graduating in 1960, he joined the Air Force in September of that year, serving with distinction for eight years in North Dakota, Alaska, and Florida.

On December 6, 1964, Michael married Virginia Johnson in Plentywood, Montana. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Terri Kinney. 

The family relocated to Greeley, Colorado in 1968, where Michael furthered his education at Aims College and the University of Northern Colorado. He embarked on a successful career as a Farmers Insurance agent, serving the community for over 50 years.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Johnson Kinney; his daughter, Terri Kinney (Linda Ghent); his brothers David (Joan) Kinney and Paul Kinney; his sister Clare Kinney; his brothers-in-law Larry (Diane) Johnson and Dan (Katharine) Johnson; and his sister-in-law Janet Cron.

A memorial service will be held on July 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greeley, followed by inurnment at the church’s columbarium. Pastor Deb Abbott will preside over the service.
