Nellie Jane Gamble White, 84, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2016, at her home following an extended illness. She was born in Scott County, Virginia and had resided in Clinchport, VA the majority of her life. She opened up the first ever beauty shop in the Clinchport community and also assisted her husband as owner/operator of Clinch River Groceries (Speers Ferry). She truly loved ceramics and gardening. Mrs. White was a very devout Christian Lady of the Methodist faith. Nellie Jane was selfless in her devotion to her family and home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Kelly Parker (K.P.) White, Jr.; a son, David Kelly; her parents, Emmitt Gamble and Louannia Sloan Gamble, along with two brothers. Nellie Jane White is survived by her daughter, Kallen Ann White-Lewis; a son, William (Bill) White and wife, Ruth Ann; granddaughters, Tracy White, Lori Lei Ann Russell, Kathy Shockey, and Christina Woody; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Syble Gamble Adams, Francis Gamble Peavler, and Colleen Gamble Daugherty and brothers, Note Gamble and Vandue Gamble. A special thank you goes out to James (Jim) Lewis for his heart felt dedication to our mother. The family would like to also recognize the special caregivers, Lydia and Rhonda for the care given during her illness. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley, officiating. A committal service will immediately follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park with James Lewis, Michael Rhoton, Craig Russell and her nephews serving as pallbearers.
