Patricia Ann (Pat) Staples, 71, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2015 with her loving family by her side. She was born April 1, 1944, to Melvin and Dorothy Miller. Pat graduated from Caldwell High School in 1962 and married Al Staples September 14, 1963. She helped Al at Bruneel Tires over the years and was a “jack of all trades.” She was also a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi and a dedicated member of the Disciples of Christ Church. Pat volunteered for many organizations — March of Dimes, Crop Walk, and Beautify Caldwell to name a few. She was the epitome of a volunteer. If you wanted something done, all you had to do was ask Pat. She put her heart and soul into her volunteer work. Pat was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at age 56 and fought a valiant fight until the day she passed away. A week ago, she told her sister she was not ready to give up, and she continued to fight the battle with a positive attitude and her amazing sense of humor. Pat and Al have a cabin in McCall that she loved, and they went there often. It was a place where she had many special times with family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Al; sons Mike (Yvette Pacheco), Travis (Jenny); sister, Susie (Kent) Yerrington; and her dear grandchildren: Chris, Addie, Logan, Hallie, Gavin Staples and Gavin Telford. The family would like to thank Dr. Young, her night nurse Andy and the ICU staff at St. Luke’s Meridian for the special care they gave Pat. A viewing will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 15, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Pat may be made to the Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation at nwpf.org or mail to 400 Mercer St., Seattle, WA 98109 or to a favorite charity.
