Peggy Elaine Henry
October 23rd, 1933 - January 14th, 2013
Peggy Elaine Henry 79, of Greeley, CO passed away January 14, 2013 at Hospice of Northern Colorado. She was born October 23, 1933 at home in Bedford, IA to Hubert H. and Irene L. (Weir) Henry. Peggy attended Pleasant Grove County School through the eighth grade and graduated from Bedford High School in 1952. She graduated from North Western State College in Maryville, MO in 1956 with a degree in Elementary and Secondary Music Education. She taught for three years at Greenacres Elementary in Ft. Morgan, CO. She graduated from Colorado State College now University of Northern Colorado, in 1960 with her Masters Degree in Elementary School Education. She then taught second grade at Ft. Lupton, and later first grade in Greeley and at Chappelow Elementary in Evans. In the fall of 1967 she enrolled in the University of Iowa where she earned her Phd. in Elementary Education the summer of 1969. She returned to Greeley and taught at UNC from the fall of 1969 to the fall of 1983 when she retired to take care of her parents who were in poor health. Peggy was a woman of strong faith and a member of the First Baptist Church in Ft. Morgan and Greeley and most recently a member of Greeley Wesleyan Church. She is survived by her sister, Myrna Henry of Greeley; aunt, Alice Colyn of Sabetha, KS; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. A "Homecoming” celebration of Peggy’s life will be held later in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to "Greeley Wesleyan Church”, Weld Food Bank” or Weld County Humane Society” in care of Adamson Funeral Home, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley 80634.
