Ruth Marie Hanschen

Living in Chico, California since 1998, Ruth Marie Hanschen passed away at her home on March 12, 2011 at the age of 86. Born December 6, 1924 in Hutchinson, Minnesota, to Edwin and Marie Austad, Ruth grew up in Minnesota and Michigan. She married Leonard Hanschen in 1948 and they had four children. Ruth was trained as registered nurse at Hamline University in St. Paul and she spent her career working in the delivery room at North Memorial Hospital. Ruth was predeceased by her parents. She will be missed by her husband, Leonard, age 92 on March 15th, her 4 children and their families: John (Carolyn), Craig (Tammy), Christine, Timothy (Lori) and also 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Ruth enjoyed her family and friends, knitting and crochet work, traveling, watching sports, playing card games, reading and watching television. After living in the north for most of her life, she enjoyed her last retirement years in the temperate climate of Chico, near daughter, Chris and her family. Services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011, 11 a.m. at Family of God Lutheran Church, 8625 Zane Ave, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, followed by a luncheon at the church. Private burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
