Vera Lorraine Weiss, 71, Mahtowa, died Monday, October 11, 2004 in Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. She was born June 5, 1933 in Hillman, Morrison County, MN, the daughter of William and Elsie Bachman. Vera attended school at Hillman country school and attended Onamia High School. She married Harry Weiss on March 9, 1950. After their marriage, she and Harry farmed for a few years in Onamia and then moved to Cloquet. After moving to Cloquet, Vera became active in PTA, Girl Scouts, Carlton County Homemakers and taught in the Barnum Catholic religion program for several years. Vera worked as a home health aide for Carlton County for 9 ½ years, retiring with her husband in October 1989. She was a member of St. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Sawyer. Vera was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Graydon, Duane and Norman; and a daughter, Bonita Weiss. She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Harry, Sr. of Mahtowa; three daughters, Beverly (Bob) Danger of Mahtowa, Barbara (Jim) Tuve, of Cloquet, and Brenda (Jay) Putney of Winthrop; two sons, Harry, Jr. of Grand Rapids and Donald (Suk) of Mahtowa; a sister, Gladys Buck of Great Falls, MT; one brother, Robert Bachman of Pine River, MN; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, October 14, 2004 in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Cloquet, with Rev. Father David Tushar officiating. Burial was in New Calvary Cemetery, Cloquet. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
