" Wallace A. Howe, 91, of Jabish St. passed away March 12, 2003 at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation for Hadley. Born in Windham, VT, November 6, 1911, he was the son of the late Bert and Emma (Rhodes) Howe. Wallace has lived in Belchertown since 1977, previously residing in Hadley. He was a farmer in Brownsville,VT and later owned Shady Lawn Rest Home in Hadley with his wife for 17 years. Wallace was a member of the Odd Fellows in Amherst as well as being a member of the Amherst Grange. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carlena (Houghton) as well as four sons and a daughter; Ronald Howe of Hadley, Patricia Ann Flemings of Palmer, Randall B. Howe of Brattleboro,VT, Craig W. Howe of Wales and Kevin A. Howe of Montague. Wallace also leaves two sisters, Roberta Bendig and Ada Pearson both of South Londonderry,VT as well as 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. A calling hour will precede the service from 10-11:00 a.m. Burial will be at a later date. The family has asked that donations be made in his memory to either the American Lung Association, 393 Maple St. Springfield,MA 01102 or to the Belchertown Senior Center, 60 State St. Belchertown,MA 01007. "
