Kingsport - William Kay "Bill" Greene, 71 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at his residence following a long illness. He was born in Harlan, KY and had lived most of his life in Kingsport. Bill owned and operated the Greene Sleeves Restaurant on Eastman Road for several years, later owning and operating one of the "landmark businesses" in downtown, the Jan-Mar Restaurant on Broad Street for many years. Bill was much loved in the Kingsport community and will be remembered for his love of the restaurant business and the people he met every day. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Hinkle Greene; sister, Norma Bray. Bill is survived by his wife, Pam Anderson Greene; daughters, Anissa Greene and Angie Mann; son, John Greene; grandchildren, Whitney Mann, Logan Mann, Jessie Amyx and Paisley Greene; several great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12 - 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Lay officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ronald Brown, Ronnie Miller, Wes Brooks, Mike Bell, Anthony McPeek and Mike Stafford. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Tammy with Amedisys Hospice for the kindness shown to Bill and his family during his illness..
