Yvonne Jean Wiltse Howie, 73, of Boise passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, April 9, 2014, after a prolonged illness. She was born on November 7, 1940 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Clarence and Martha Wiltse. As a young child she lived in Colorado, Massachusetts, and Los Angeles until her father graduated from Loma Linda University Medical School. The family then moved to Shelton NE (Joplin, MO during the Korean Conflict) and then returned to Wood River, NE to re-establish their home and medical prac- tice. Voni attended Platte Valley Academy in Shelton NE and grad- uated in 1959. While attending Union College in Lincoln NE, Voni was introduced through mutual friends to a charming Idaho boy, David George Howie. After the death of her beloved father, the family moved to California to be near her mother’s family. Dave followed her to sunny California and they were married in the Redlands Seventh-day Adventist church on February 24, 1963. The couple honeymooned driving a white 1964 Corvette along the California and Oregon Coast on their way to Boise ID, where they would establish their home. Voni was a homemaker and wonderful mother. She took part time work in the DMV, driving school bus for the Meridian School district, delivering sprouts and greeting cards, secretary for a medical office, and the job she retired from in 2006 was as a massage therapist. Her hobbies were rid- ing motorcycles, camping, plan- ning dinners and parties, skiing, boating, spending time with her grandchildren, and traveling. She was a caring, empathetic, com- passionate, selfless woman. She was tall, graceful, and striking. Loved by everyone she crossed paths with, she made the world a brighter place and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her spouse, David; three children, Tracy (Tod) Spainhower, Travis (Sally) Howie, and Trent (Anne) Howie; Her sisters, Rosann Wiltse and Sandy (Bryan) Hemenway; Her brother, Bruce (Anna) Wiltse; Seven grandchildren, Jenise, Chelsee, Tallon, Jake, Rainey, Sophia, and Amelia. She was preceded in death by her parents and an older brother who died at age 4. A memorial service will be held at the Cloverdale Seventh- day Adventist church on April 26, 2014 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gem State Adventist Academy.

Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
