John P. Cook

John passed away peacefully at home on October 7, 2026. He graduated from Thomas J Corcoran high school. After graduation, John enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served for three years. Shortly, after leaving the Marine Corps, he became a corrections officer at the Jamesville penitentiary, where he retired several years ago.

 He was predeceased by his parents, John and Virginia Cook, his brother Timmy, his daughter, Megan and stepson Matthew. 

He is survived by his son Sean, sisters, Patty (Shields), Chrissy, brother, Jimmy, cousin, Joe Kendrick and several nieces and nephews. 

He will be missed by all who knew him, his laughter and his love of life. 

Calling hours will be 5 to 7PM Wednesday, October 21st, at Ballweg and Lunsford funeral home, 4612 S. Salina St. Syracuse, NY, 13205 

A memorial service will be Thursday, October 22nd, at 11AM at the funeral home. 

Burial will follow in Onondaga Valley Cemetery. 

There will also be a celebration of life at the American Legion Valley Post immediately following the burial.
