Katherine Langer

Katherine Elsie Wren Langer, lovingly known as Kay and affectionately called “Gaga” by her grandchildren, passed away on October 12, 2026, at the age of 87.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 7, 1939, Kay moved to Florida in 1971, where she built her life and career.

A registered nurse, Kay dedicated her career to caring for others. During her years in Florida, she worked at Morton Plant Hospital as Head of the Cardiac Care Unit, reflecting her commitment to nursing and the care of her patients.

Outside of her nursing career, Kay had a special fascination with space and enjoyed watching space exploration. She also loved cats, who were cherished companions throughout her life. Her current cat, Spot, will miss her dearly.

Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Langer, in 2001. She is survived by her two daughters, Diane (David) and Donna (Norm); her brothers, Marvin (Rodica) and Stephen (Thomas); her grandchildren, Eric, Sean (Alissa), and Nick (Elena); and her step-granddaughter, Amber.

Kay will be remembered for her dedication to caring for others, her love of space exploration and cats, and the special place she held in the lives of her family. To her grandchildren, she will always be Gaga.

Services will be held on Friday, October 16 at 2:00 pm at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 7820 38th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33710
