Betty Lou Lawver Baker

Betty Lou Baker of Kuna, Idaho, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, in Nampa, Idaho, at the age of 86.She was born on May 16, 1939, in Oelwein, Iowa, to Richard Lawver and Evelyn Bathke Lawver. Betty grew up with a strong love of family that she carried with her throughout her life and was raised alongside her siblings, Jo Zacharias, Evelyn “Cookie” Fitzgerald, and James “Jimmy” Stinger.

For 65 wonderful years, Betty was devoted to her beloved husband, Toby Baker. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. She was a proud and loving mother to Doug Baker, KC Baker and his wife Vija, and Amy Baker, and a cherished “Grammy” to Hannah Henderson and her husband Travis, Emilee Weich and her husband Trent, Nate Burr, and Scotland Burr, as well as to each of their children—Harper, Eden, Ivan, Remy, Wesley, Olivea, Peter, Amyleah, and Jackson. Betty also shared her love with a number of foster children during her Montana years—most notably Josh Vincent, with whom she remained connected as he grew to love and lead his own family in the Lord.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her eldest son Doug Baker, and her sister, Evelyn “Cookie” Fitzgerald.Known for her silly sense of humor, quick wit, and deeply caring heart, Betty had a special way of making people feel seen and loved. In her later years, it was often shared how she had touched countless lives—friends and acquaintances alike—through small acts of kindness and genuine compassion.Her greatest desire was for those she loved to know and trust in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her sweet heart longed for others to experience that same faith, and many were inspired by her example.

In her final moments, Betty was surrounded by her closest family, even if only through video chat. Her last thoughts were filled with unbounded love for her children and grandchildren—the “babies and their babies” who meant everything to her.Betty’s legacy of love, faith, laughter, and devotion will live on in all who knew her.A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Kuna Nazarene Church in Kuna, Idaho.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
