Celebrating the Life of Brett Alan Mayes
Brett Alan Mayes passed away on October 20, 2026, at the age of 65, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and a lifetime of memories that will forever be treasured.
Brett had a love for adventure and the outdoors. He enjoyed rock climbing, paragliding, playing sudoku, riding his motorcycle and paddling his canoe he built himself. He often spent time at his cabin and traveling with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Brett was born November 30, 1960, to Effie and Onder Mayes in Lovell, Wyoming. He moved to Butte, Montana when he was 8 years old and met Trudi when they were young kids in junior high school. They married shortly after high school and for 47 years, navigated all of life’s adventures while raising their family and creating countless memories.
After high school, Brett served 4 years in the Air Force. He returned to Montana before moving with his family to Meridian, Idaho in 1995. He spent the remainder of his career at Micron Technology where he started as an electro-mechanical engineer, earned his Computer Science degree and completed his career as a software engineer. Brett was a loved scouting leader for many years and actively served as a member of his church.
He is survived by his wife Trudi, children and grandchildren: Misti and Troy Hughes and their children Tahya (Kolin) and Kayla (Charlie), Brett W Mayes (Brandy), Rebecca Mayes and her girls Mia and Brinna, and Benjamin Mayes.
Brett is also survived by his sisters Aletha Durtsche and Paula Kinney (Kevin), and his brothers, Therrill Mayes (Nancy), Joe Mayes (Charlene) and Gary Mayes (Darcy), and brother-in-law Gary Goldsberry. He leaves behind many extended family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Onder and Effie Mayes, his mother-in-law Janet McGee, his sister Anita Goldsberry and his brother-in-law Mike Durtsche.
Brett was a proud father and grandfather who will be waiting for us to join him in his heavenly home when we meet again.Â
