David Lawrence Mcclure

David "Dave” Lawrence McClure, 84, recently of Meridian, ID died Saturday, May 17, 2025, from health issues due to dementia. During his brief hospital stay he was surrounded by family, sharing fond memories of each other's time with him.

Born in Anna, Illinois on July 1, 1940, to Chester and Lela (Sims), Dave spent his childhood in school and helping his parents tend the family land. He attended the same one-room schoolhouse from elementary through high school, then went on to classes at Carthage College.

Dave moved from Illinois to Southern California in the mid-1960s, settling in the San Fernando Valley. In 2001 he relocated to Prescott, AZ where he ran a locksmith business for a time before retiring. In 2024 he moved to Meridian, ID to be closer to family.

Growing up in a rural setting gave Dave a lifelong deep appreciation of the outdoors and simple pleasures, which led to a love of nature, camping, and fishing. He was an incredible artist, skilled at drawing, painting, and photography. A talented carpenter by trade, Dave enjoyed hard work and being a builder.

His friends remember him as a friendly fellow with sly wit who delighted in practical jokes, telling stories, quick to laugh, and never took himself too seriously.

David is survived by his children: Deanna Kyle, Shawna McClure, Kelly Fromm, and Brian McClure; grandchildren: Trisha, Robert David, Tyler, Megan, Hannah, Lilly, and Logan; plus, numerous great-grandchildren.

A memorial camping trip to the High Sierra Mountains will be planned by the family in the future.
