John A. Zamora

Sep 23, 1940 — Aug 16, 2026

John A. Zamora, father, grandfather and great grandfather, 85 , of Boise, Idaho passed away peacefully on August 16th, 2026.

John was born on September 23rd, 1940 just outside Yoder, Wyoming. His senior class motto was, “Impossible is unAmerican” and that is how he lived his life. John started out selling pots and pans door to door but quickly showed expertise and graduated to selling insurance for Mutual of Omaha. After winning multiple trips both abroad and here at home, he was awarded his own home office and moved his beloved family to Boise, Idaho in 1974. John’s friends and family always said he could sell a pencil without an eraser on the top.

Despite his many accomplishments, John was most proud of his family. He was always there for us, whether it be a little league coach or a fashion consultant, you could always count on him to help. He enjoyed dancing and singing, bringing mariachi music to the Boise valley, serving as the vocalist for his little mariachi band. He also was a founding member of the Mexican American Club of Idaho. However, he was proudest to be an American and always told his children that came first.

A born storyteller, John found great joy in recounting his favorite moments and telling jokes. He was always described as bold, handsome, fun loving, respectful, intelligent and an all around wonderful man. He always wanted people to know they mattered and went about his life making sure they knew it.

John is survived by his wife, Tommie; his children, Dominic Zamora (Lisa), Damian Zamora, DeAnna Fisher (David), Doreen Ellis (Richard), Danelle Gilliam (Gary); his seven grandchildren, Lauren, Alex, Taylor, Marie, Joseph, Erin and Hannah; and three great grandchildren: Charlotte, Briggs and Bryce.

John will be remembered for his love of his family, his faith, his country and his Yankees.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in his name to either the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center.
