Madelyn Marie Howell
May 20, 1936 — May 27, 2026
Madelyn Marie Howell was born on May 20, 1936, in Fresno, CA, and went home to be with our Lord and Savior on May 27, 2026. She was 90 years old. The family moved to Visalia when she was six years old, and she lived there until graduating high school. She attended Redlands College for a teaching degree. She met Alfred Howell at a mutual friend’s wedding, and they married on July 25, 1959. They moved to Santa Clara, CA, where they raised two sons, Kenneth and Steven.
She taught school for one year, then became a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. As a side business, she painted knickknacks and sold them at boutique shops. She loved being a mom and raising her children. She was also very involved with her church, and helped put together potlucks, out reaches, and volunteer work. She also loved to mentor young women and lead bible studies. She was so happy to become a grandmother in 1993 to Brody, and then Kayla.
After retiring, she and Alfred moved to Boise in 1997 to be closer to their grandchildren. Madelyn stayed busy after retiring with oil painting classes, family get togethers, and game nights with friends. She enjoyed having the grandkids stay the night, and did many fun things with them including crafts, going to parks, feeding ducks, and going to local science centers and museums.
Madelyn has been an active member of several churches throughout her life after becoming a Christian as a child. She grew up going to church with her mom, dad, and sister. She has attended Heritage Bible Church for the last 18 years.
Madelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Kathaleen Montague; husband, Alfred Howell; and son, Kenneth Howell. She is survived by her son Steven (Amanda) Howell, her daughter in law Colleen Howell, and three grandchildren, Shelby, Brody, and Kayla.
