Roger Jay Woods

Roger Jay Woods, died July 18, 2026, at the age of 82, in his home with his wife beside him. Roger was born in Boise Idaho, to Jack and Hilda Woods. He graduated from Boise High School and attended college for three years and then enlisted in the Army. He spent the majority of his service in Germany. In 1963 he entered into his first marriage. They later divorced and he and Joyce L Hezeltine were married in 1994.

Roger spent his professional career working for various glass companies in Idaho and Nevada. He later owned his own glass company. In 1992, he went to work for the Boise School District until his retirement in 2008.

In addition to his wife Joyce, Roger’s three loves were flying, riding a Harley and golf. He loved to fly and owned his own plane for many years. Roger and Joyce bought their first Harley and put thousands of miles on the open road, riding both close to home and across the country and were active members of the Intermountain HOG Chapter. In those years when he wasn’t riding, he’d be on the golf course and always played for the love of the game. He was a caring and giving man and often put other people’s needs ahead of himself.

Roger is survived by his wife Joyce, his son Douglas Woods (Jeanette); his daughter Nichole Rasmusen (Shawn); his son John Hezeltine (Jessica); his brother Gary Woods (Gayle) and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Clare Woods.

Roger loved to enjoy life and have fun but sadly his later years were challenging due to health issues. We will miss his spirited individuality. His ashes will be spread in the “Scatter Garden” in the Veterans Cemetery.

A “Celebration of Life” potluck will be held on August 27, 2026 at 1048 N Dalton Street in Boise at 3:00 PM. You are welcome to bring your favorite side dish and memories to share with everyone.
