Betty Lou Flesher

BETTY LOU FLESHER, widow of Jack B. Flesher, was born in Moundsville, West Virginia to Ben and Freda Staub Lepko. Betty had been employed by the FBI fingerprint division in Washington, DC before she and Jack moved to the small town of Tucson Arizona in 1952, where Jack was employed by Hughes Aircraft. In 1961, Betty joined the newly organized Bank of Tucson, which after several mergers, became Great Western Bank, where Betty became the first female manager of a full-service branch in Tucson. This opened the doors for qualified females at other banks to advance. After many years in banking, Betty joined Stewart Title as Accounting Service Manager before retiring to travel and enjoy life.

Jack and Betty traveled in their motorhome across the United States, Canada, Nova Scotia and spent a summer in Alaska before deciding to spend their summers in the beautiful White Mountains in Show Low, Arizona and their winters in their home in Tucson. They enjoyed cruising, which took them to many parts of the world. They also spent time each year in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where they joined a group to provide medical and school supplies to children in remote villages. Betty loved the beach and said she had to have her “Beach Fix” every year. Betty enjoyed playing all kinds of cards, MahJong, music, dancing, going out for lunch or dinner with friends, keeping busy and just enjoying life. Betty was also a charter member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine Oasis Court #75 in Tucson.

Jack predeceased her in 2011. She leaves behind her son Mark Flesher of Tucson, daughter Toni (Steve) Hays of North Carolina, daughter Vickie Hartnett, granddaughter, Ryan Hays, grandson Christopher Hays, grandson Casey Harnett, four great grandchildren and a sister in West Virginia.

There is to be no service and request any remembrances to be made to a charity of your choice. With a few exceptions, it has been a Wonderful Journey.
