He spent his early years in Springfield until 1960, when he proudly joined the United States Air Force. His military service took him to Thule, Greenland, and later to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. It was in Tucson, at the age of 21, that Don met the love of his life, Thelma Lynch, who was 15 at the time. Their love story grew into a beautiful marriage that spanned more than 62 wonderful years. Throughout his life, he worked tirelessly, sometimes holding three jobs at once to ensure his loved ones had what they needed. Much of his professional career was spent in the aircraft industry, where he dedicated nine years to McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach, California, followed by 28 years with Learjet and Bombardier in Tucson, Arizona. His strong work ethic, dedication, and perseverance were an example to all who knew him.Above all, Don's greatest treasures were his family and his faith. He loved his Lord and served Him faithfully throughout his life. His relationship with Jesus was the foundation of his strength, his hope, and the way he lived each day. Even in his final moments, his faith remained steadfast, and he went home to be with the Lord he loved so dearly.Don was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Evelyn Christie; his brother, Michael Christie; his son-in-law, Charles Christie-June; and his grandson, Steven Ryan Christie. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Thelma; his three children; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.Don will be remembered for his kindness, his tireless work ethic, his unwavering devotion to his family, and his deep love for the Lord. His life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and the enduring power of love. Though his family will miss him tremendously, they find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior. His love, his laughter, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Until they meet again, his family will hold tightly to the legacy he leaves behind and the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.A small, private service will be held for family and close friends.Forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.
