Judith Catherine Pruitt
Mar 3, 1947 — Aug 15, 2026
Judith Catherine “Judy” Pruitt passed away on August 15, 2026, at the age of 79.
Born on March 3, 1947, in Malden, Massachusetts, Judy was the daughter of the late Walter E. Bragg and Edith H. Montgomery. Raised in Warminster, Pennsylvania, she attended William Tennent High School and was the second of four Bragg children: her older sister, Carol Susann “Sue” Nice; and her younger brothers, the late Walter Eldridge “Wally” Bragg III and Russell James “Russ” Bragg.
Judy and her husband, William Matthew “Bill” Pruitt, were married on August 25, 1974, and shared nearly 52 years of marriage. Together, they were at the center of a large and extended family.
Judy was the mother of two children: Matthew T. “Matt” Pruitt of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and his wife, Nina; and Shana L. Cota of Tucson, Arizona, and her husband, Ernie. She was a proud grandmother of four — Hunter and Carly Pruitt, and Katrina and Ernesto Cota Jr. — and great-grandmother of three — Jose, Jayleen, and Noah Perez-Cota.
Judy’s family also included Bill’s five children, Greg Ketter, Lori Katrakis, Bill Pruitt Jr., Kim Pruitt, and Sonya Pruitt, along with their families, who were part of the extended family Judy and Bill shared throughout their many years together.
A hairdresser by profession, Judy’s work was about much more than hair. She cared deeply for her clients, particularly her elderly customers, and often became an important part of their lives. She ran errands, lent a hand when one was needed, and quietly became a caregiver and trusted friend to many who did not have family nearby. Caring for others came naturally to Judy and extended well beyond the walls of the salon.
Judy also loved music and had the soul of an artist. Although the demands of life did not always leave her the time she might have wished to devote to her art, that creative spirit remained a part of who she was. She also loved her regular bingo games, often winning while laughing with friends.
Judy was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Edith, and her brother, Wally. She is survived by her husband, Bill; her children, Matt and Shana, and their spouses; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Bill’s children and their families; her sister, Sue; her brother, Russ; her sisters-in-law, Gerri and Angie; and an extended circle of family, friends, clients, and others whose lives were made better by her kindness.
Judy will be remembered for the care she gave so freely to others, her infectious patriotism, her creative spirit, her devotion to family, and the laughter and friendship she found in the everyday moments of life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private celebration of Judy’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, family would request donations be made to some of Judy’s beloved charities, such as St. Jude or Tunnel to Towers:
